FEATURED ARTIST FRIDAY: GAWP
Having previously toured and released music under different guises and styles, GAWP is certainly no stranger to the music industry…
The music itself is a result of a lifetime spent in the studio, perfecting his craft and being careful to only release tracks of the highest standard; this approach has seen GAWP sigh to prestigious imprints like Micmac’s label of the decade Dirtybird, Spanish super-brand Elrow, This Ain’t Bristol, Get Twisted, Stashed, Cheap Thrills, Night Bass, Main Course, perfect Driver and many more…
Aiming for premium quality with every release, his initial productions quickly gained support from a huge spectrum of established artists, from the likes of : Claude Vonstroke, Justin Martin, Chris Lake, Billy Kenny, Kyle Watson, Will Clarke, Bot, Eric Morillo, and Walker and Royce just to name a few.
Finding a niche with his sound, GAWP’s profile has exploded in the industry press with coverage for him and his releases in premium media outlets like Mixmag, When We Dip, Earmark, Nest HQ, Magnetic Mag, Insomniac, Data Transmission, EDM Tunes, Inhale and Harder Blogger Faster. This support across the board has rightly translated into shows with GAWP appearing on lineups across Europe at events including a DJ Mag live stream from their HQ in London, the Unsourced ADE showcase in Amsterdam, to 5000 people at The Beathhrder Festival, and four other leading UK festivals in Summer 2017 alone.
What genre would you describe yourself as?

I will always look up to Gene Farris because he is so tall (joke aside) he’s a living legend and also one of my fav people, also Weiss, Bot, Steve Darko, Chris Lake (he’s a production machine) and theres many new kids popping in the scene which I’m excited about.
What is your proudest moment so far? (blogged/signed/etc..)
Possibly playing Dirtybird Campout West and signing my tracks to the label around the same time it was a dream from here in the UK to be part of what i only saw on youtube and instagram stories for so long.

Long days and nights in entertainment can take quite a toll on your body. What are some of your self care practices?
I have a regime when I’m back in the UK I rarely drink, eat well and go to the gym. Then do a tour and it all goes out the window, then on return i do it all again. its just a balance. Although I’m more concerned how i sound than look its still important to look after your temple.
If you had to do something else (outside of music), what would it be?
Probably design or create things.. I used to be a hairdresser and also had a wooden watch company. Anything creative and fun is right up my street.
